Dj Booman - Bio

DJ Booman has been synonymous with “Baltimore Club music” since its inception in the early 90s. As one of the key producers (and the first engineer) for Unruly Records, Booman, along with partners KW Griff and Jimmy Jones as the Doo Dew Kidz, created club classics like “Pick Em’ Up”, “Watch Out For The Big Girl”, and “Shout”. And Booman continues to bring the Club hits through a constant flow of remixes (Most recently: Usher, Kim Zolciac (Atlanta Housewives), Jay Sean (Cash Money Records), Jim Jones, Katy Perry, Taxi Doll), traditional Club tracks, and club/hip-hop hybrids.

While keeping a constant, constructive presence in his hometown of Baltimore, DJ Booman also expertly navigates the national market, with his 1996 remix of Michael Jackson’s “Strangers in Moscow” and more recently, a bonus track on Diddy’s Press Play (Diddy even developed a viral “dance contest” video for the song), and his association with the world famous Bumsquad DJs.

DJ Booman’s served extended stints as a mixshow DJ on Baltimore’s WERQ 92.3 (“92 Q”) and WXYV (“V 103”), toured the mid-Atlantic college circuit as the premiere university DJ all through the 90s, and can still be caught mixing it up in at least one or two Baltimore hip-hop and club spots every week as well as tour dates spinning dance parties and serving as tour DJ for Baltimore Legendary rapper Mullyman. Paired with his promotional work through Crooked Streetz Entertainment, his Bosstalkmixtape, Promobile Marketing group, and One Stop Entertainment Source (O.S.E.S), DJBooman himself could be called a “one stop entertainment source”.

And all the while, he holds it down through Club tracks, a hip-hop production career (the Baltimore City Paper named him “Best Beatmaker” in 2008), and pioneering Club/rap hybrids with local legends like Mullyman (“Party Walk”, “Bmore Go Harder”) and the supergroup of the 410 Pharaohs (Booman, Jimmy Jones, Labtekwon). The 410 Pharoahs’ 2008 album 410 Funk won “Best Local Album” in the City Paper (that’s two awards for Booman last year if you’re counting) and received positive press in XLR8R and numerous House and dance music websites. 2008 Booman partnered with Baltimore powerhouse DJ Excel to become VP of Bmoreoriginal Records, the two have elevated the club music genre to incredible heights through their groundbreaking internet site www.bmoreclub.com

2011 is shaping up to be an equally fruitful year for DJ Booman as he remains ever-present, through production on Mullyman’s “Bmore Go Harder” and "she hurtinem" which has videos by noted artist and video director TabiBonney as well as videos by famed director Grench, all of which have seen rotation on MTV networks, Booman recently contributed 6 tracks on Mullyman’s new collaborative cd with G_Unit’s DJ Woo Kid and is in the studio working on Jeff Miranda’s (Snookie’s boyfriend from Jersey Shore) new CD. Catch Booman mixing live on his radio shows for 88.9 FM Baltimore (Strictly Hip Hop) Friday Nights, 1620 AM New Jersey (mix1620.com HD) Saturday Nights and in clubs all around the country. Booman was also nominated “internet dj of the year” by IDJawards.com so as you can see the grind never stops.
