Waitress reportedly hit with bottle of rum at club northeast of Atlanta

TUCKER, Ga. - Da Brat was arrested early Thursday after a dispute with a waitress at a nightclub northeast of Atlanta.
The 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, was charged with aggravated assault, said DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish.
Officers answered a call to Studio 72 at 1:20 a.m. about a “brief pushing sort of thing,” Parish said. (more here)

Judge Orders Rapper T.I. Released On $3 Million Bond

ATLANTA (AP) - A federal judge ordered rapper T.I. released on $3 million bond Friday, but he must remain in home confinement while he awaits trial on weapons charges. U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman said the singer must remain under house arrest at a home in Henry County. He wasn't more specific about the location.
T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris) will be monitored 24 hours a day by a private monitoring service that he must pay for. He's restricted to the home except under certain circumstances, including medical appointments and court appearances. He cannot own any firearms and cannot have contact with any witnesses or informants in the case.
Noting that T.I has a team of highly qualified attorneys, the judge said: ''You shouldn't do anything that will undermine their ability to represent you.'' Defense lawyer Ed Garland argued that based on the amount of money being put up, there's no reason not to release his client.

Vick faces prison time after agreeing to plead guilty

RICHMOND, Va. -- More than football, Michael Vick's freedom is the question now.
With three associates prepared to testify that he brutally executed dogs and bankrolled gambling, the NFL star agreed Monday to "accept full responsibility" for his role in a dogfighting ring and plead guilty to federal conspiracy charges.
Worries about playing time will have to wait while Vick faces prison time -- from one to five years.
The maximum term is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, although federal sentencing guidelines likely would call for less. Defense attorneys would not divulge details of the plea agreement or how much time Vick can expect to serve.
However, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Kelly Naqi that prosecutors will recommend a sentence of 12 to 18 months.
The official said such a sentence would be more than what is usually recommended for first-time offenders, reflecting the government's attempt to show that animal abusers will receive more than a slap on the wrist. U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson is not bound by prosecutors' recommendations or the sentencing guidelines and will have the final say. More Here

Son of rapper KRS-One found dead in Atlanta home

The son of rap pioneer KRS-One was found dead in his Atlanta home in an apparent suicide.

Details were sketchy Tuesday but the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that 23-year-old Randy Hubbard Parker died of a gunshot wound to the head.

No note was found, but the medical examiner listed the death as a suicide from a pistol and found nothing suspicious about the case. The office spoke with his mother, Simone G. Parker, Tuesday who said the family was out of the country.

She released a statement that said her son had suffered a long battle with depression. His body was found Friday in a house he rented on Carey Drive in southeast Atlanta; he had been dead for several days.

Parker was a graphic designer and fashion entrepreneur who was seeking employment in Atlanta, according to WSB-TV.

His family said a private memorial service will be held on July 18, which would have been his 24th birthday. Another service is scheduled to take place in New York in August, where Parker was born.

KRS-One, whose real name is Lawrence Parker, was a rap pioneer who began his career in the 1980s as one half of the hip-hop crew Boogie Down Productions. He went on to a solo career in the 1990s and his hits include "Criminal Minded," "Black Cop," and "The Bridge is Over." Critics credited him with being a significant force in the hip-hop culture both for his political rap and for being a forerunner of the gangsta rap genre.

KRS-One’s Stepson Found Dead in Possible Suicide

The body of Randy Hubbard Parker, stepson of legendary MC KRS-One, was found in his Atlanta apartment this past weekend in an apparent suicide. The 23-year-old was the son of KRS’s wife Simone Parker. In a statement released today, Randy’s mother attributed his death to a bout with “severe depression.” According to a report from MTV News, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office said Parker was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head, and the death has been classified as a suicide.
