The doctors had an optomistic view after he grabbed a nurses hand as he was slipping in and out of conciousness. The 24-year-old passed away after nearly six hours of emergency surgery last night to repair a severed artery in his upper leg.
His lawyer Richard Sharpstein described the attack as it was recounted by Taylor’s girlfriend who had been with him that night. She told him that the couple had been awoken by loud noises and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Mr Sharpstein said.
Officers confirmed that they are investigating possible links to a break in last week. Someone pried open a front window of the house in Palmetto Bay rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed.
Investigators are apparently investigating whether there is any relation between these break-ins and a dispute two years ago between Taylor and some men in a depressed neighborhood near his current home, Sharpstein said.
